Lyons Rapids Pool

Lyons Rapids is a wide slow run that works best when the fish are moving. Wilson ’s has ownership of the south side of this pool and the north side is Crown public water. This pool usually fishes two rods on Wilson ’s side and has a total water frontage of app. 700 feet.

O’Donnell’s Landing Pool

O’Donnell’s Landing is a fast moving run over plenty of rocks. This pool normally fishes two rods in both the summer and the fall. Total water frontage around Herb’s Island , is approximately 1,800 feet.

Stanley’s Front Pool

Stanley ’s Front is a beautiful Atlantic salmon pool with a nice run that forces the fish to the south bank of the Miramichi River. The run gradually deepens into a slow moving pool over several rocks.

The pool is a top producer when the water is higher than normal and can easily service up to four rods. The total water frontage around Herb’s and Stanley ’s Fronts is app. 2,000 feet. Privacy is enjoyed here since Wilson ’s owns both shorelines.

Herb’s Front Pool

Herb’s Front is a small fast salmon run with a small pocket that is just right for one rod. The pool, which is approximately one hundred feet in length fishes best in high water. Wilson ’s has ownership of both sides.

Buttermilk Pool

Buttermilk is a wide slow moving pool flowing over a bed of several large rocks that fishes well in both the summer and the fall. Wilson ’s has leased the south side of this pool that has about 1,800 feet of frontage fishing two rods until 2057.

Cold Water Pool

Cold Water pool gets its name from the fact that Stewarts Brook and several other small springs flow from the south shoreline into this pool.

The pool, which has a wide gravel bar and a deep lower end, is a good holding pool in both the summer and the fall. The pool easily fishes four rods. Wilson ’s owns both shorelines of the pool . Total water frontage at this pool is app. 2,000 feet.

Bridge Pool

The Bridge Pool is a fast moving heavy, 400 foot, run located under the famous foot bridge spanning the Main Southwest Miramichi River between the communities of McNamee and Priceville.

This pool, which can hold two rods, fishes best when the salmon are moving through. Wilson ’s has ownership of one side.

Wilson Landing Pool

Home Pool is a fast flowing narrow run over a riverbed of large rocks. The pool is supplied with cold water from springs flowing out of the north bank and also from the ledge bottom.

The pool normally fishes two to three rods easily from either the island or the north bank. The total water frontage for this pool, Lower Justies and Maple Island is app. 3,000 feet. Wilson ’s has ownership of both banks.

Lower Justies Pool

Lower Justies is a very private one rod pool, but could be shared by two anglers. The pool is approximately one hundred feet long and is adjacent to the Maple Island and Home Pools making it a handy pool to pass through while fishing the other pools previously mentioned. Wilson’s has ownership of both sides.

Maple Island Pool

Maple Island is another small very private pool that seems to capture all the fish moving through. The pool, which is app. 125 feet in length, fishes 1 to 2 rods.

Traditionally Maple Island has been a sure bet on any July morning or late evening. This pool is adjacent to Lower Justies and Home pool. Wilson ’s has ownership of both sides.

Little Murphy Pool

Historically Little Murphy has been one of Wilson ’s top three producers. Throughout the sixties and seventies the pool was famous for its ability to hold the July run of Atlantic salmon.

Over the years, the pool has shifted from the south to the north side of the river. This pool fishes only in higher water. Total frontage is about 1,200 feet.

Big Murphy Pool

Big Murphy, which is the largest pool, produces well in all water conditions in both the summer and the fall seasons. The water is a wide fast moving riffle flowing into a deep slow moving pool.

The middle of the pool consists of several large rocks and there is a medium flow of water. Under normal conditions this pool easily fishes two rods, but four rods could be accommodated. Total water frontage is app. 2,500 feet. Privacy in the pool is guaranteed with Wilson ’s owning both sides of the river here. Big Murphy Pool is now considered the “Home Pool ” . This is where the new Wilson Lodge and two cabins ( Murphy Camp & Schiffman Camp ) are located .

E.J. Run Pool

E J Run is a fast moving riffle flowing off a gravel bar. The pool, which is normally worked when the fish are moving, fishes two rods.

Total water frontage here is app. 400 feet. Wilson ’s has ownership of one side which again includes the only productful portion of the pool .

Dudley Channel Pool

Dudley Channel is one of those narrow deep runs that are excellent for two rods to share. The salmon lie in here tight to the edge of a bar.

The pool is serviced by a spring fed Bogan so both salmon and trout hold here in the hot weather. Privacy is also enjoyed here through ownership of both shorelines. Total water frontage at the Dudley Pool is app. 2,300 feet.

Dudley Pool

This pool consists of the Upper Dudley Pool and the Dudley Channel.

Upper Dudley is a very beautiful pool that has been one of the top producers in both the summer and fall. The run flows off an angular bar in the river that forces the fish up the middle of the pool over various holding rocks and pockets.

The tail of the pool is very deep and receives a flow of cold water from the Dudley Bogan. During the fall this has become an excellent holding pool. This section of the pool easily fishes two rods and four rods could be accommodated for those groups wishing to fish together.

Hovey’s Front Pool

Hovey’s Front is a fast narrow run flowing into a deep slow bend in the river. The pool fishes well in both the summer and the fall. It normally fishes two rods in the summer and up to four rods in the fall.

Privacy is enjoyed here through ownership of both shorelines. Total water frontage at this pool is app. 2,200 feet.

Walter Murphy Front Pool

The Walter Murphy Front, which consists of app. 2,000 feet of frontage, is worked best during the spring salmon angling season when it is a good producer.

Walter Murphy Front is also fishable by one to two rods in the summer and fall. Wilson ’s has ownership of the entire pool which is on one side of the river.

Duff Pool

Duff Pool is one of the best producing spring fishing pools in the system. This pool, which fishes two rods, also produces best in late fall when salmon are holding in its lower sections. Total water frontage at this pool is approximately 1,800 feet. Wilson’s has ownership of one side.
