Miramichi Ice Report March 30

The ice has moved in a lot of sections and even in areas like the Doaktown Bridge you can see the ice melting through . We still have tons of snow in the woods so with a few warm days and a good rain we will see the river cleared out easily . Looks like we will be on the water by April 15th .

Wildcat area is typical of all the upper Cains , little jambs moving slow but tightening up again with the cold nights .

The Upper Cains is moving out about on time . Several areas moved throughout the day on Saturday , tightening up again after two cold nights . Won’t be long now .

The recent rain and brief warm spell has the ice moving a bit more that expected . Many of the channels are opening up such as Big Murphy here but it will still take more rain and warm temps to clear the river completely . The way things are shaping up we should be on the water by April 15th but as we all know mother nature could have other things in store for us .

We have had our fair share of snow and cold this winter and as usual the ice-run is very unpredictable . We had a rain last weekend and again this weekend gone by so the water is rising a bit a a few glades are opening up . Air temps are forecast to drop to -18 again tonight so that will tighten things up again for sure . I will attempt to post photo’s of the 2011 ice-run as it develops so stay tuned .
