miramichi-river-salmon
Atlantic salmon and sea-run brook trout fishing report for the Miramichi River at McNmaee for May 30th .
The water is still lower than normal for late May but can change quickly with a little rain . Good sea-run trout fishing reports for the McNamee area and one local guy lucked into a nice “rocky brook ” salmon this week too . I fished the Cains last night and I am pleased to report there is a good run of fresh trout on the crown open section . The daily crown reserve opens June 1st so we can expect good fishing up there by then too . The water is too low to float a canoe but I am sure the trout will have no trouble getting along .

Atlantic salmon and sea-run brook trout fishing conditions for the Miramichi River at McNamee for May 28th . The water is low but seems to be holding on both the Cains and Miramichi . We are seeing no fresh fish yet in McNamee but two salmon were reported caught in Doaktown last night . There are reports this morning of fresh-run brook trout on the Cains as far up as Rt 123 so we should be getting into them on the crown rerserve by June 1st for sure .

Atlantic salmon and sea-run brook trout fly-fishing conditions for the Miramichi River at McNamee for May 23rd . The water is lower than normal and the temps came up these last few days . The water temp is still good in the low 60′s and the mayfly and cadis hatch is thriving . We fished the Cains from Hopewell to Duffy Brook on Saturday and Sunday and saw only a few winter trout , no sea-run yet . There are reports of sea-run trout in the lower Miramichi so we should be into them soon .

miramichi-trout
Atlantic salmon and Sea-run brook trout fly-fishing conditions for the Miramichi at McNamee for May 17th.The “big boy’s” seem to be here . Not many just yet but anyone that will put the time in will be rewarded . The conditions are ideal, warm temps today and water height perfect . Should be a good hatch on tonight . The picture shown here is of a big sea-run trout I had to kill last year due to heavy bleeding . These big trophy fish are too valuable to kill , please release all your trout and salmon this season which is a proven no brainer if we want to have fish for the future .

The weather has been cooler lately and water temps good . Getting the yard work and lodge repairs done up these days in anticipation of the “June Run” of sea-run brook trout and of course the ever elusive “Rocky Brook Salmon”

Canoeing And Camping on the Miramichi
Monday, May 10th, 2010

Canoeing and camping on the Miramichi and Cains rivers is nearing “prime time” May and June . This is my favorite time to canoe , the water is up good and the smaller streams like the Cains is still floatable . Wilson’s offers both rentals and shuttle service at the best rates in town . We have cabins to rent on the Cains and Miramichi Rivers so you don’t need to bother with a tent .

Atlantic Salmon fly-fishing conditions for the Miramichi River at McNamee for May 10th . We had a big rain over the weekend that brought the river up just slightly but still good enough to hold the water for now . Water height is a little low for the period but not bad at all , this height would be perfect for early June . Most of the spring ( black ) salmon have now left our area . Some of the local boys are getting into good trout fishing but no sign of fresh sea-run trout yet .
We are expecting the sea-run trout to be early this year so we will be on the water soon in search of the “big boys” that roll through every year at the end of May or early June .

Wilson’s Miramichi River Report for May 3rd
Monday, May 3rd, 2010

The water is still low but seems to be holding just enough to still get around with outboards if you are careful . There are still plenty of salmon in the big holding ponds and if you get in a spot at the base of a fast moving bar you will still pick up s fish or two . The salmon are in great shapedue to all the feed on this low warmer than normal water for May 3rd . The folks in Blackville should be having good fishing for a while yet .
Best fly this weekend was the Green machine w/ white tail and the samll grey ghost . Floating lines.
