Sea-run Brook trout on their way up the Miramichi
Monday, May 28th, 2007

Keith's 24 Inch Sea-run TroutThe river conditions up to this date have been near perfect . The water is holding and the weather is not too hot yet . The temps have warmed up just about right to get the local trout on the move and feeding well . But the big news is reports of anglers in the mouth of the Miramichi hooking up with the annual run of SEA-RUN BROOK TROUT and getting some real trophies . Here in McNamee we are still having fair to good fishing for the local 10-14 inch trout and should be hitting the sea-run within a few days . The Cains River run of these huge trout can be expected within the next two to three weeks . Conditions are perfect on both the Miramichi and Cains . We are taking a few last minute bookings for availablity in June and July .

Early Run Atlantic Salmon Miramichi
Wednesday, May 16th, 2007

The water on the Miramichi is holding at a perfect level . We still have a few spring salmon hanging around in the McNamee area but most anglers are now looking to catch the early run ( Rocky Brook Run ) of salmon that can be expected late May through mid June . These early run Atlantic salmon on the upper Miramichi can be the toughest to catch but are without a doubt some of the best fighting fish of the season . Local Trout fishing is picking up as the water begins to warm a little and we will soon be into the sea-run brook trout as well .

Atlantic Salmon are still in the Miramichi
Thursday, May 10th, 2007

The water is good , the weather is fine and the Miramichi is still holding many big Atlantic Salmon . Atlantic salmon fly-fishing , not trolling , is not always easy late in the spring season but this is the when you can expect more big salmon . A warm quite evening on the river with a chance at hooking a 36- 40 inch salmon on a cast is always a thrill for any angler . Slow sink tip lines or full floating lines are working with a small streamer or even #4 summer pattern are working now . As the water begins to warm up over the next couple of weeks our trout fishing will get better and better .

Water is holding fish are moving out fast
Tuesday, May 8th, 2007

Remarkably the water is at a good height but now warming up , therefore the fish are moving out fast . With snow still in the headwaters we expect to have cool water temps for while and a good number of fish still around . It is not a numbers game at this point but those who enjoy seeing plenty of water with big salmon for the taking will love this next week to ten days . Now is the time that a well placed cast and that secret fly makes the difference .The warm quite evenings are just beautiful and a big 30 – 38 inch salmon can be expected on most trips out .
