The cool weather still with us, first frost on the 25th
Tuesday, August 29th, 2006

The cool weather remains with us, first frost on the 25th. The river is down to a normal August level but still nice and cool . We have landed several fish in the past five days that were fresh-run with sea lice still on them. I caught my personal best on Sunday night on a #10 green machine, a beautiful hen weighing app. 18 pounds, what a fight. Our larger holding pools are still very active with many older summer- run ( June & July ) fish jumping all over the place but aking poorly. The big fall run is soon to appear and after such a fantastic summer all anglers are pumped with optimism.

Water levels are down to normal for August.

Water levels are down to normal for August. The fish are pooled up and taking poorly. A nudge or a slow roll now and then and the occasional soft take is what you can expect for a for days. The rain today and cool temps may bring in a few more fresh fish as happened last weekend. Patience and a well placed Bomber seems to be the best approach today. We took a couple grilse on the weekend using long leaders and very small bugs or fly’s like the conrad. Recreational boaters in Miramichi Bay are seeing hundreds of salmon jumping, a very positive scenario for the coming fall.

What a fantastic weekend, perfect water and weather.

Dear Bill, Don & Bruce, What a fantastic weekend. I am so pleased that you guy’s took advantage of the perfect water and weather conditions and really nailed it on the fishing as a result. I was pleasantly surprised to see a number of fresh-run fish with sea lice still on them, and the ratio of big salmon was a real bonus too. The temptation was too great for me so as soon as you guy’s were on your way home I was on my way to Dudley Pool, and was not disappointed, two nice fat grilse both with sea lice. My dedicated fly of the season, “Green machine with white calf tail”, # 10 this time, came through again. If you are up to it we still have a few days open till September 10th and still offering great August discounts. Regards,Keith

As predicted, cool and rainy skies…..great fishing.

As predicted, under cool and rainy skies we are into some great fishing. Three rods in camp today all had fish on and several landed. Best of all two of the large grilse were “fresh-run “, one still had sea lice. Our holding pools are still holding good numbers of older fish too.The river height is ideal and our weather forecast is for cool temps through Sunday setting the stage for good fishing next week as well. Anglers with an urge to take advantage should also consider our great discounts for the month of August. We still have a few slots open but don’t delay.

The near perfect river condition continue into August.
Sunday, August 6th, 2006

The near perfect river condition continue into August. The water came up again Saturday after a brief thunderstorm and the overnight temps have been cool. The fish are settled in to the holding pools giving anglers plenty of viewing pleasure by jumping and rolling plenty but they are taking hard. Strategies and fly patterns change with these August fish but a dedicated professional guide combined with patience and perseverance is still your best tool for success.

Water has finally come down to a normal summer level.
Tuesday, August 1st, 2006

The water has finally come down to a normal summer level. Due to the hot weather there are tons of fish in all the cold water holding pools along the river. DFO stats show the 2006 run to date is the best it has been in years on the Main S.W. Miramichi. Fish are not taking well this week but we hope that August will be a repeat of August 2005 with good fishing happening each time the river cooled down after a little rain and raise. Best times are of course early mornings before 10:00 am .
